Brasso is some awesome stuff. I was recommended this by a friend and it’s awesome for remove scratches from CDs. Wal-Mart sells 8 oz. tins for about $2.68. I found it next to the household cleaners and not in the household/hardware section.
Basically you need a really soft cloth or micro-fiber cloth. Pour a drop or two onto the CD itself and then rub in circular patterns in a specific area for about 5 to 10 minutes. After 5 to 10 minutes, rub the compound back off and you should notice a large majority of the light scratches are gone. It took me two to three times before almost all the light scratches were gone. The deep scratches take a lot longer. I recommend testing the CD once all the lighter scratches are out to see if your computer or CD player reads it fine. If it works then you can just ignore the deeper scratches.
